Roxio to Offer CD Burning for RealNetworks' RealOne Consumers
Milpitas, California - (December 4, 2001) - Roxio, Inc. (Nasdaq:ROXI), the Digital Media Company, today announced that it will provide the CD recording technology for RealNetworks® (Nasdaq: RNWK) new RealOne Player, the all-in-one digital media player, which integrates functions of RealPlayer and RealJukebox, a media browser and content discovery window, and a significantly enhanced subscription service. The new Easy CD Creator Basic Plug-in from Roxio is included with the RealOne Player and gives users the ability to burn music and data CDs, at 2x speeds, and now supports the MP3 and RealAudio® 8 file formats. Roxio is currently the provider of CD recording technology for RealNetworks' RealJukebox® 2.0.
For full-speed burning and other performance enhancements to the
Basic Plug-in included with the RealOne Player, Roxio offers users
a new Easy CD Creator Plus Plug-in for $19.95, available through
an upgrade button within the RealOne Player. For greater CD burning
functionality, users can purchase Roxio's full-featured Easy CD
Creator 5 Platinum software package, with a suggested retail price
of $99.95. The additional features of the new Easy CD Creator Plus
Plug-in include faster burn speeds, automatic sound normalization
of audio tracks, multi-session burning of audio and data files,
and enhanced directory support for sorting and burning data files
by artist, genre or album. Those users who upgrade to Easy CD Creator
5 Platinum will enjoy all benefits of the Easy CD Creator Plus Plug-in
and more: custom CD label creation, advanced music recording features
(e.g., track transitions, fade-ins and fade-outs), photo and video
editing, photo and video CD burning, and complete data burning support.
Additionally, those customers who already have Roxio's Easy CD Creator
4 Deluxe or Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum on their PC will have the
functionality of the Easy CD Creator Plus Plug-in when using the
RealOne Player. Customers who already have Easy CD Creator 4 Basic
or Easy CD Creator 5 Basic on their PC will be able to burn at full-speed
when using the RealOne Player.
